Mundesley Mothing Part 2

Saturday night had even poorer moth trap results that Friday, possibly owing to a drop in temperatures. I don't have the exact catch to hand but fair to say that it mirrored the previous evening but with less of everything. However, two nice ones early in the evening were Light Emerald and Brussels Lace. A little earlier in the day I stumbled across a Red Admiral which appeared to have just emerged. A wander down Cley's East Bank on Saturday afternoon was quite productive. Several Marsh Harrier, numerous very vocal but completely invisible Bearded Tits, Little Egret, Spotted Redshank, Sandwich Tern, Avocet, Greenshank and Black Tailed Godwit all put in an appearance. A quick walk down to the beach on Saturday afternoon gave us Gannet and Balearic Shearwater. I think there has been a bit of movement of Balearic's down the east coast of late so although not entirely unexpected, a nice bird to have.

The following morning the same stretch of sea gave up another Gannet and 7 Common Scoter.
