Dorset
A fabulous weekend for all the right reasons but a shocker for all the wrong reasons which ended with us coming home in the small hours with my Focus being on the back of an AA truck and it needing a new engine. Andy was the star of the show with his AA membership but we still had to pay for the lift home!! Will post details of the birds, butterflies, moths, reptiles, orchids and dragons in the next day or so but thanks to Andy for his AA membership and credit card and to both him and Dave for their incredible patience...............

Sound frustrating. Hope there was a Serin and Marsh Fritillary somewhere in the weekend before the blown engine.
Many of the latter but no Serin. Luckily everything went wrong on the way home!
Back in the day when I was more twitchy, I resolved not to bother twitching stuff like Serin on the basis that one day, somewhere, I undoubtedly run into one. Same with Bluethroat and Ortolan Bunting. I cracked one day when both Bluethroat and Serin were at the same site in Essex and set off on a two-tick mission. Still never seen Ortolan though, which along with Roseate Tern, Ptarmigan, Leach's Petrel and Corncrake are the commonest birds I need. Look forward to the Dorset Diary - the good bits before the car went for a wotsit.
Where's this Dorset round-up then?
Been stuck in a field in Cambs all week at an agricultural trade show, not had a minute! I'm working on it......
